Anyone, anyone..... Bueller

Imagine a life where nothing changed. Everyone would wear the same white polo shirt and khaki pants. Everyone would drive a Camry. We would all eat cold turkey. Ethnicity wouldn't exist. We would all believe in the same religious faith. No one would break any rules, and would live by said rules. There would be one political party. Music and art wouldn't even be conceivable. No one would dare to be different. What I have just described is a world of monotony. Thank God or Krishnah or whatever you warship, or don't warship, that we have such colorful flavors such as the Mexican or Mediterranean foods. Or the melodic compositions of South-America. And no one can forget the artistry of Europe.
But what do we need to sacrifice in order to keep these lavish privileges. Banishment? Death? Social suicide? Cutting off your ear? Imagine a world of peace. No news, no controversy or ambition for discovering. News casters would be out of a jobs. Drama series would loose inspiration. Everyone would get along. We would be back at square one. Monotony. What makes us different is a good thing. Whether it be race or culture. Music or art. Language or fashion. Religion or wealth. Difference in this world makes it our world. What would you rather have? Peace and quiet, or war and expression.

Keeper of the "peace"

What is a Hero? The definition of a hero has changed drastically from the time when our parents were our age some thirty years ago. A man in tights that flies around saving damsels in distress from their kidnapper/evil do-er. That sight has long been forgotten. Now-a-days, kids still have the belief in heroes that fly, but instead of them flying to save town hall from Dr Krypton, they're flying to the rim of a basket ball hoop. I think that real heroes have a secret identity (they aren't noticed). I still believe in the thought of a man or woman saving the lives of another as heroic (I'm old fashioned). I'm not trying to imply that I think one day I will be saved by a man wearing a bright green and white spandex ones-y, but I'm saying that there are still people out there who believe in doing right by others. In my eyes, the troops that put their lives at stake day in and day out to keep "peace" in this dysfunctional world we live in are my heroes. Peace is such a vague word to use, my definition of the word is: a state at which we can take a walk in the park and not worry about being harmed in anyway. Even though our troops have been accused and proven of heinous crimes, they have kept war out of our country (or saved the damsel in distress). This to me not only shows how heroic they all are, but also how dedicated they are. As people are always saying, the unsung heroes are saving this world, isn't kinda ironic that the "super suit" of a soldier is camouflage?

Take it all in

Were supposed to write a clever and funny blog post as a parody of the book Everything I need to know I learned in kindergarten. To be completely honest I have no clue where I learned everything I needed to learn. I haven't even learned all I need/want to learn. A safe guess would be through travel. My mom works for Northwest Airlines. We have been across the nation and back countless times. We've been across seas and back a significant number of times. Traveling really has taught me loads. Such examples as, don't drink the water, and wipe back to front. But the most humbling lesson is being thankful. My dad was born and raised in Casablanca, Morocco. I've been there roughly nine times. And each and every time i visit, i see poverty first hand. Morocco is considered to be a third world country. I have experienced what it's like to live dirt poor. In the summer of '07, my sister and I spent the month of July in Morocco. We stayed with distant family across the country. In Fez, a city north east of Casablanca, we stayed with some cousins. This family had nothing. No TV. No radio. No lavish furniture. No hardwood flooring. The kids had a tattered soccer ball that had hardly and air in it. And yet they were happy as can be. The only form of entertainment they had was story telling. I remember giving the youngest of three kids a whistle. The look on his face as he blew into it, in an ecstatic manner, could be the cure of the common cold. Upon my return to Minnesota, I realized how spoiled kids are in the USA. How they aren't satisfied with what they have. How they are always looking for more to have. Reflect on what I've written for you now. If you were ti take everything out of your house right now and put it in your front yard, do you think it would fill the whole yard? Imagine if it would only fill the sidewalk in front of your front yard. Humbling isn't it?

Movies

If you ask people my age about what their favorite movie is, they will have thirty different movies to choose from. Varying from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre to the notebook. In my own weird way, i like the classics such as north by northwest. Something about it really just struck me as interesting. Whether it was the cheese-y green screen background of the train, or the quick turn of events that take place. Or the sweet plane scene, where a man is almost killed by a field fertilizing plane. Another great selection of movies are animated Disney movies. Disney isn't as innocent as they look. For example in the lion king, scar the evil uncle of simba has evil minions, and in the song be prepared they are doing the classic salute walk for Hitler. I think is great. Aside the whole genocide deal. But seriously, it's hilarious that they can get away with it. In Aladin too, the balcony scene, if you listen close enough you can hear a the genie (who at this moment is a fly) say "take your clothes off." But my all time favorite movie of all time has got to be Hot Rod. The humor level of the movie is so great. Through out the whole movie there are little puns that just get me every time. Movies in general have changed. From silents to computer animated. I mean WOW! The technology that has been created is incredible.
